All-Star, Sun News All-Sun Southwest Team and Four-time Parma
Athletic Award honoree. Averaged 12.2 points, 9.7 rebounds,
4.1 blocks and 1.0 assists while shooting 43 percent from the field
and 63.9 percent from the free-throw line for her career. She
averaged a double-double (13.4, 10.2) as a senior. Holds the
school game (11), season (50, 2002-03) and career (299) records for
blocks. She’s ranked ninth for blocks in a career in the
Ohio High School Athletic Association (O.H.S.A.A.)...Honored with
the O.H.S.A.A. Courageous Spirit Award

Kovach had a stellar career at
Lakewood
as a two sport athlete. She is the All-Time leading scorer and was
the Female Athlete of the Year twice. She was named 1st Team
All-Conference for the Lake Erie League and 3rd Team Northeast Ohio
D-1 Girls Basketball and Plain Dealer Player of the Week. Kovach was
the MVP of her team all four years and was captain for three. She
was on the honor roll with a 3.9 GPA and a member of the National
Honor Society.

Melanie led Miami of Ohio to a runner-up finish at the Atlanta
Marriott NW Classic, averaging 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per
game, while draining six three-point field goals. As a junior, she
ranked second among
Miami
players in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game. She left
Holy Name as the school’s All Time Leading Scorer. She
was also voted Plain Dealer Best of the Best. She was the
conference MVP, both her Junior and Senior Years.
